North Dakota State University Track and Field

The North Dakota State University (NDSU) Track & Field program has long been recognized as one of the premier programs in the Midwest, producing top-tier athletes and consistently competing at a championship level. Assistant Coach Clayton Pritchard oversees the jumps group — including long jump, triple jump, high jump, and pole vault — where technical precision and consistent feedback are essential to performance gains.
Before adopting TrackBoss, the NDSU coaching staff used OnForm to record and review jump attempts. While it provided basic video analysis, it lacked organization and true track-and-field-specific context. Videos had to be manually labeled and stored, data tracking was disconnected from results, and it was difficult to maintain historical records of each athlete’s progression across indoor and outdoor seasons.
“OnForm helped us get started with video review,” said Pritchard, “but it wasn’t designed for track and field. It required too much manual work to organize attempts, track PRs, or pull up video history on a specific athlete.”

In 2025, the NDSU staff switched to TrackBoss, the only coaching platform built exclusively for track and field. With TrackBoss, every video and result is automatically organized by athlete, event, and attempt, allowing instant access to performance data and historical comparisons.
The team quickly integrated TrackBoss into daily jump sessions and meet preparation. Coaches use TrackBoss to capture each attempt and instantly replay it for athlete feedback, highlight technical adjustments, and tag trends across the season. PR tracking and analytics allow the staff to visualize improvement and tailor training based on actual performance data.
Since switching, Pritchard reports that video and data organization has improved dramatically — saving hours each week that were previously spent sorting clips and compiling stats manually.
“TrackBoss does everything we need for track and field — and nothing we don’t. It’s simple, efficient, and powerful. We can finally focus on coaching instead of managing files.”
NDSU’s jumpers now benefit from real-time, data-driven feedback that keeps them engaged and progressing throughout the season. What once took hours of video review is now accessible within seconds, helping the Bison coaching staff maintain their competitive edge.
